Shoreline Stabilization and Urban Regeneration
Lake Piediluco (Umbria, Italy)

The project involved the structural stabilization of the shores of Lake Piediluco through the
installation of approximately 300 prestressed reinforced concrete piles, driven along the lakefront to counteract soil instability and prevent shoreline collapse. The piles were structurally connected at their heads by a continuous reinforced concrete beam, designed to ensure the global stability of the retaining system and protect the adjacent buildings and infrastructure from potential ground failure.
Beyond its structural role, the connecting beam was reinterpreted as an architectural element, forming the base of a new pedestrian walkway and lakeside promenade. The intervention therefore represents not only a geotechnical stabilization project, but also a significant urban regeneration operation, enhancing safety, accessibility, and the overall spatial quality of the waterfront.
